Though Bed bugs cannot carry any disease, they have become a severe problem in recent years worldwide. Due to increased tourism and humans traveling around the globe, they can quickly spread and become difficult to treat, resulting in a rapid spread. Bed bugs feed on the blood of humans and other mammals. The primary concern is the irritation and distress caused by bed bug bites.
Bed bug bites cause itchiness that results from the body’s reaction to them that causes discomfort. Treating the bites soothes the irritation, but it can still be very distressing when there are multiple bites, as is often the case with bedbugs. It is not always possible to be sure where you became exposed to bed bugs. What used to be such a rare pest is now so pervasive that the media is full of stories of bed bugs being found in schools, cinemas, shops, hotels, public transport, offices, hospitals, and just about anywhere that people go. The reality is that it’s best to focus on clear and straightforward education of the risks to those you may have inadvertently been exposed they can also make sure they are clear.
This misunderstanding is a lot more common than you would think, due mainly to the fact that people without experience of bed bugs often get them confused with dust mites which require powerful magnification to be seen. The misunderstanding perpetuates because every home has them, and they are the first creatures people associate with beds. The reality is that dust mites are not even insects and are incapable of biting people. Instead, the skin reaction comes from a localized allergic reaction to their droppings deposited after feeding our shed skin cells.
